Dr. Lois Musmann (Music Director and Conductor) graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston with a degree in performance of early music and harpsichord; and she was harpsichordist for the Chamber Orchestra of Cape Ann in Gloucester, MA. She obtained her Master of Music in conducting from the University of Redlands in 1986, and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from USC, in conducting, in 1989.

The Pacifica Chamber Orchestra was founded as Musica Viva in 1990. It performs in settings of architectural interest as well as traditional venues. The group, comprised of 35 professional players, has been recognized with grants awarded by the Riverside Arts Foundation. Although based in Riverside and Palm Springs, the orchestra has also performed in Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Bernadino Counties.
