Ka: Soul or Shadow, in mythology of ancient EGYPT This "double" of a human survived the human's death if rites were performed with a statue of the human, into which the Ka might enter -- and early predecessor of the Cyberpunk notion of "downloading" a mind into a mchine. Hence the statue, placed near the mummy in the tomb, is also called the Ka. Kaaba: [Arabic: "kabah" = "a square house"] Holiest of all Islamic shrines, at the center of the Great Mosque, reputedly built before Adam. Adam was forgiven by Allah at the Kaaba two centuries after being expelled from Eden. After the Flood, it was rebuilt by Abraham and Ishmael.
