John W. Campbell Best New Writer Award Eligible Author Web Site Some data on authors NOT linked on the World Wide Web is based upon "The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and Fantasy, Through 1968", compiled by Donald H. Tuck, Chicago: Advent Publishers, Inc., 1974. I recommend this encyclopedia, as well as more recent and comprehensive encyclopediae including the one available on CD-ROM by Peter Nichols and John Clute. See also "Science Fiction: The 100 Best Novels, an English Language Selection 1949-1984", by David Pringle (London: Carroll & Graf, 1985) for interesting analysis of 100 readable, excellent, significant books See also "Dream Makers: The Uncommon People Who Write Science Fiction", interviews by Charles Platt (New York: Berkeley, 1980) See also "Bibliography of Science Fiction and Fantasy" by Sam J. Lundwall, 1964, which I believe has been updated in at least three editions. He also provided important information in "Science Fiction: fran begynnelsen till vara dagar", commissioned by Radio Sweden, and published in 1969. The English translation is "Science Fiction: What It's All About", Sam J. Lundwall, New York: Ace, 1971. See also "Billion Year Spree: The True History of Science Fiction", Brian W. Aldiss, (New York: Doubleday, 1973; Schocken Paperback, 1974) See also "Asimov on Science Fiction" (New York: Avon, 1981) There are several sources for pseudonyms listed here (so far mostly A-P and W-Z): "The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and Fantasy, Through 1968", compiled by Donald H. Tuck, Chicago: Advent Publishers, Inc., 1974 "Checklist of Fantastic Literature", Bleiler, 1948 NFFF Listings of the 1950s J. Page's list in "Lore" (Sep 1966) "Sciencefiction and Fantasy Pseudonyms", Barry McGhan, 1976 "Who Goes There", James Rock, 1979 "Index to the Science Fiction Magazines 1926-1950", D. B. Day, 1952 "The Index of Science Fiction Magazines 1951-1965", N. Metcalf, 1968 "The Hero-Pulp Index", L. McKinstry & R. Weinberg, 1970 "Stella Nova", R. Regnald, 1970 "Who's Who in Horror and Fantasy Fiction", M. Ashley, 1977 "Twentieth Century Science Fiction Writers", C. V. Smith, 1981 "Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature", R. Reginald, 1979 and I have not seen yet, but have heard good things about: "Hawk's Author's Pseudonyms for Book Collectors, edited by Pat Hawk, 1993 98 hotlinks were compiled for Dragon*Con 1997, and hotlinks to them are designated "@ Dragon*Con" and provided here by permission of Edward E.
