The memorial cairn in Leglend Wood
It is thought that Wallace led a robin-hood type life for 5 years in the
ancient forests of Scotland after killing the son of an English constable.
Then in 1296, his guerrilla activity became more daring. He attacked an
English baggage train on Louden Hill and avenged his father's death there
in 1291.
