The Wallace Monument
William Wallace's National Monument in Stirling. It is built on the
same hill, Abbey Craig, on which Wallace waited with his army as the
English crossed Stirling Bridge at the start of the battle of Stirling in
1297. This monument was completed in
1869, and houses what is reputed to be Wallace's sword, as well as other
stuff well worth seeing.
Open to the public,
and a great place to visit on your next trip to Scotland.
