Map showing the Four peoples of Early Scotland
When the Roman, Agricola, came to Scotland he found 17 great tribes.
After the Romans left there were four tribes, each with their own king:
Picts (the painted people); Scots, Britons and Angles. This map shows
their dominions.
The most famous of the Pictish kings was Brude who was persuaded by St
Columba to convert to Christianity.
